Student Success Assistant (Work Study)
Student employment eligibility :
Students must be awarded Federal College Work-study or Campus Employment to apply for any Student Employment positions.
Campus Work-study (CWS) provides part-time jobs for students attending the University of Arizona Global Campus with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expense. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient’s course of study.
The Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-study (FWS), and Federal Perkins Loan programs are called campus-based programs because they are administered directly by the financial aid office at each participating school.
Position Summary:
The Student Success Assistant (Work Study) is a remote part-time employment opportunity in the Student Affairs Department. Reporting to the Student Success Program Manager, the role will be responsible for supporting the Student Affairs Department initiatives that support the developmental needs of the diverse University of Arizona Global Campus student population.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide one to one mentorship for first time college students (mentees) and other students as assigned through CHAMPS
Connect with students as needed to support first year cohort retention initiatives
Contribute to asynchronous discussion boards provided for CHAMPS participants as assigned
Conduct phone, email and Zoom outreach to students
Attend Student Affairs team and department meetings via Zoom
Attend and support the various CHAMPS flash mentoring sessions via Zoom as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible to receive Federal Work Study funding
Enrolled in a degree-seeking program with Ashford University
Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress
Have no holds on student account
Have no history of Student Community Standards violations
Possess reliable phone, internet connection and computer
Have a minimum 15 hours per week available for work study employment
Education Requirements:
The successful candidate will be an active/enrolled student in a degree-seeking program at The University of Arizona Global Campus.
Note: This opportunity of employment will require a completed pre-employment screening to be inclusive of, but not limited to: a criminal background investigation, a credit check investigation, verification of education credentials, verification of prior employment history and a professional reference check; with review prior to an offer of employment being extended.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Zoom or other virtual meeting modalities
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven organizational skills maintaining communication records
Additional Specifics:
Supervisor: Kiri Storlie - Student Success Program Manager, Student Affairs.
Pay rate: $12.50 -$15.00 per hour based on experience and state of residence
Estimated length of the assignment: Based on eligible funding or not to exceed past the end of the 2021-2022 award year, whichever is earliest.
Evaluation Procedure: Student workers will be evaluated on eligibility and performance as needed.
