University of Arizona Global Campus Senior Data Warehouse Architect in United States

Position Overview

The University of Arizona Global Campus is seeking a full-time Data Warehouse Architect, Senior to develop and manage its Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platform. The Data Warehouse Architect, Senior works with technical and business teams on the ingestion, ETL processing, hosting, and visualization of source data sets for reporting and integration purposes. The Data Warehouse Architect, Senior maintains the enterprise data warehouse and associated business intelligence environments including data lakes, operational data stores, data marts, and metadata repositories. The Data Warehouse Architect, Senior also develops expertise within the enterprise systems data models and processes themselves to find new ways of supporting business intelligence and decision making.

The successful candidate will be a curious, detail-oriented, analytical thinker with excellent SQL skills who can consider multiple options, exercise good judgement, make decisions, and maintain good client relations. Individuals who have previous experience in decision support and data warehousing in higher-education environments are highly desired.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Participate in the entire lifecycle for Business Intelligence Solution Delivery.

  • Create and manage environments, ETL processes, dimensional data modeling, reports, and visualizations as required.

  • Establish policies, standards, and procedures for securing, gaining access to, and using databases. Develop and maintain technical and non-technical documentation related to the job function.

  • Develop and implement a variety of data management structures that enhance teaching, learning, and operations at the University of Arizona Global Campus. Work closely with application developers in the design of databases and generate conceptual/logical models.

  • Provide leadership and vision for the future growth and expansion of analytics toolsets.

  • Design and deliver accurate and performant business intelligence solutions.

  • Work with business units to improve efficiencies through analytics.

  • Design and develop reports using SQL Server Reporting Services and Tableau.

  • Design and develop OLAP Cubes and Tabular models using Analysis Services (SSAS).

  • Establish, implement, and maintain security, backup and data recovery policies, procedures and best practices and standards for cloud-based infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing models, structures, theories, principles, and practices.

  • Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.

  • Working technical experience with cloud technologies, including Microsoft Azure environments.

  • 7+ years developing solutions using the MS SQL Server Business Intelligence Stack

  • Knowledge and experience in development of data warehouse architectures for large volume reporting solutions.

  • Experience in designing data models to support reporting and analysis. Knowledge of industry accepted design techniques including Star, and third normal form schemas


Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or related field preferred.
