University of Arizona Global Campus Senior Business Intelligence Analyst in United States
The University of Arizona Global Campus is seeking a full-time Business Intelligence Analyst, Senior to develop and manage the student federal and state reporting needs of the institution. The Business Intelligence Analyst, Senior provides analysis, data transformation, and operational report writing support for the enterprise information and transaction systems that support the business of the Global Campus. The Business Intelligence Analyst, Senior collaborates with process owners, subject matter experts, developers and stakeholders to gather requirements and designs solutions that meet identified business needs. The Business Intelligence Analyst, Senior also develops expertise within the enterprise systems data models and processes themselves to find new ways of supporting business intelligence and decision making.
The successful candidate will be a curious, detail-oriented, analytical thinker with excellent SQL and report creation skills who can consider multiple options, exercise good judgement, make decisions, and maintain good client relations. S/he will also possess excellent organizational, technical, and communication skills. Individuals who have previous experience in decision support and data warehousing support roles are highly desired.
Essential Job Duties:
The Institutional Research Analyst collects, manages, and analyzes a variety of quantitative data sets (e.g., student, employee, financial, etc.) to provide institutional research support to local, state, and federal data requirements.
Utilize multiple technology applications including SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau, to collect and analyze data and to prepare data submissions for the federal government, accrediting agencies, external surveys, and other solicitors.
Support academic and administrative units by pulling official institutional statistics from the data warehouse as needed for accreditation reports, and assessment activities in a timely manner.
Respond to external requests for data or analyses utilizing existing data sources when possible and querying databases as needed.
Maintain institutional research databases.
Deliver the tools used to convert data into business information and measures across a wide range of delivery methods (reports, dashboards, ad hoc, mobile, etc.)
Previous experience with external high-stakes compliance reporting (State, Federal IPEDS, university system, accreditation, etc.) strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of data mining models, structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.
Working technical experience with relational database servers, including Microsoft SQL Server 2016, and MySQL.
Outstanding SAS language, macro language and SQL programming skills with excellent extract-creation skills.
Excellent knowledge of data modeling tools
Direct experience with data management techniques.
Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Possess superior conceptual and analytical skills including: problem solving, operating platforms, and solutions designs
Experience in a direct role supporting and implementing business intelligence and/or enterprise data warehouse
Advanced understanding of SSAS, SQL, SSIS tools
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or related field.
