University of Arizona Global Campus Faculty - Doctor of Psychology Program in United States

Position Summary:

At The University of Arizona Global Campus, full-time Faculty are discipline experts who provide a positive learning environment in a specific academic program, emphasis, and/or discipline to facilitate and support student success within the College of The University of Arizona Global Campus. Faculty are committed to high quality teaching and learning through ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement.

Essential Job Duties:

Teaching

A Faculty member should demonstrate exemplary teaching in their discipline. Teaching includes content delivery, student mentoring, and assessment of student learning. All Faculty will carry a teaching load requirement, determined annually. Additionally, Faculty are responsible for:

  • Demonstrating awareness of and responding to the diverse needs of all students

  • Displaying a thorough knowledge of both the curriculum and the subject matter

  • Facilitating instructional materials and providing guidance and feedback to all students

  • Setting high expectations for student achievement and behavior

  • Evaluating student performance via established rubrics and policies

  • Responding to student emails and inquiries in a timely manner

  • Addressing plagiarism concerns according to university and programmatic policies

  • Collaborating with student-facing institutional personnel to enhance the student experience

Student Success

  • Implementing retention, persistence, graduation, and student success initiatives as guided by college and University leadership

  • Contributing to student success through regular interaction with student enrollment and academic advisors

  • Supporting program(s) and emphasis development activities, course development, and assessment

  • Supporting college leadership in evaluation of teaching efficacy within college and faculty coaching

  • Collaborating with other university departments to ensure a positive experience for all university students

  • Maintaining scheduled office hours for student support

Service

  • Contributing to a university-wide or college committees

  • Contributing to instructor quality review and mentoring

  • Collaborating with college or university teams to develop and implement new initiatives

  • Providing support for accreditation and licensure efforts to ensure courses meets career and discipline goals

  • Assisting with program review(s) (gathering data, writing reports, creating action plans for enhancement)

  • Engaging in community development activities involving disciplinary expertise

  • Representing college in University meetings and forums

  • Providing mentoring and coaching of part-time instructors as assigned

Professional Development and Scholarship

  • Engaging in faculty scholarship and development activities related to the university’s primary focus as a teaching institution, which may include discovery, integration, application, and/or teaching

  • Supporting faculty forums and other professional development activities within the college

  • Participating in faculty communities of practice and community spaces

  • Participating in external discipline specific conferences and professional communities

  • Enhancing teaching effectiveness skills by attending seminars, webinars, workshops, and classes through both internal and external programming

Other Duties:

  • Participating in meetings (on site and virtual) as directed

  • Maintaining regular work hours coordinated with supervisor

  • Working collaboratively with supervisor to develop a yearly work plan that identifies measurable and individualized goals that support the foregoing job requirements

  • Revising and monitoring of courses as assigned by supervisor

  • Responding to instructor needs in a timely manner

  • Monitoring programmatic courses to maintain quality and effective content

  • Responding to departmental and institutional requests in a timely manner

  • Performing other duties as assigned­­­

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Sports Psychology, Performance Psychology, Positive Psychology, or related degree from a regionally accredited university

  • Experience in a distance/online learning environment with adult learners

  • Experience working with graduate level students

  • Practical research experience in quantitative and qualitative methods

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for supporting students

  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule that may require travel and occasional work on evenings and weekends

  • 1+ years of online college teaching experience

  • Experience in instructional/course design

  • Exceptional ability to work as a team supporting inter- and cross-departmental institutional student success applications

  • Willingness to mentor instructors in student success strategies and practice

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications including intermediate level experience with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom, statistical software [general]

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of online college teaching experience

  • Experience teaching sports psychology

  • Experience supporting student doctoral projects and dissertations utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

  • Experience supporting students through their doctoral journey

  • Successful results in supporting students to graduation at the doctoral level

  • Evidence-based success in mentoring online instructors

  • Experience working in and with dynamic teams

  • Experience in mentoring and executing performance reviews of instructors

  • Previous degree/education/experience in the field of sports psychology

  • Experience teaching psychology of leadership, criminology, and/or health and wellness courses

  • Experience chairing applied doctoral projects

  • Applied knowledge associated with testing and assessment

  • Applied knowledge associated with diversity, inclusivity, and equity

  • Experience teaching in non-traditional settings to students

  • Experience teaching non-traditional students

  • Experience teaching entry-point courses

  • Proficiency using technology such as video-creation and editing software

  • Evidence based success in the online teaching context

Rate of Pay: $75,000 DOE/annually
