University of Arizona Global Campus Senior Systems Architect (Azure) in Chandler, Arizona
University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) is an online University currently serving over 30,000 students. We are seeking a Senior Systems Architect with experience in all facets of Microsoft's Azure platform to help transition on-premises IT to the cloud.
This is a remote position.
The Senior Systems Architect position supports several existing web sites, various custom applications, databases, and storage schemes. Responsibilities include development of the UAGC reference architecture which will serve as a baseline for the transition projects that are being migrated to Azure. The successful candidate will evaluate these projects as they arrive for additional performance efficiencies, stability, reliability, serviceability, and security posture. The candidate will conduct design reviews to ensure that the environment is aligned with current trends in network, storage and compute infrastructure, virtualization and virtual desktop technology.
Collaborate with internal staff and management, external partners, and vendors.
Work collaboratively with domain experts, analysts, and staff engineering.
Controls assigned budget and meets schedule commitments.
Provide technical guidance and leadership on how Azure is best used to create the desired functionality.
Document the resulting cloud architecture, network configuration, resource groups, and design choices of the associated applications to support future maintenance and scaling activities.
Work closely with UAGC DevOps to deploy solutions that support the desired functionality and the support our overall strategy of Business Continuation.
Work with UAGC IT Quality creating test suites for functional/regression testing.
At least 10 years' experience in software engineering and architecture, including at least two Azure migration projects involving OLTP and virtual server resources.
Experience using the Microsoft stack (SQL Server, IIS, .NET Core 3+) to meet technical requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience with multi-site, multi-vendor enterprise IT architecture. See uagc.edu for more information.
