University of Arizona Global Campus Database Developer II in Chandler, Arizona
University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) is an online University currently serving nearly 30,000 students. We are seeking a Database Developer II to build and maintain cloud-based SQL applications as part of our IT group.
The Database Developer II will work as part of a development team to re-engineer existing on-premises SQL Server applications to run on Microsoft’s Azure platform and maintain those applications once they have been re-hosted. The Database Developer II will be implementing applications using SQL Server objects including schemas, stored procedures, and user-defined functions under the direction of a Database Developer III .
This is a remote position.
Essential Job Duties:
Create and update stored procedures, functions, and views
Create and update SSRS reports, SQL jobs, and SSIS packages
Participate in all phases of the software development life-cycle - requirements, design, implementation, testing, release, maintenance
Attend design meetings to understand existing functionality, develop re-engineering and migration plans, and discuss priorities and resource scheduling
Work with Quality to develop test plans, fixtures, and evaluation code
Implement projects focused on business workflows, automated systems, reporting, and data analysis.
Collaborate with DBA’s, software engineers, business analysts, subject matter experts, and project managers
Perform code reviews with peers
Assist in process improvement initiatives
Your resume should reflect direct project experience developing solutions with SQL Server, both on-premises and cloud-based
You should be familiar working within an Agile framework (daily standups, deliverable sprints, iterative solutions, and customer collaboration)
Experience re-engineering on-premises SQL Server applications to take advantage of cloud resources (you should demonstrate re-hosting experience beyond basic “lift-and-shift”)
Experience in data warehousing and constructing data marts.
Knowledge of Microsoft database products, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, Azure databases, Data Factory, etc.
Experienced with database object creation/debugging/optimization/tuning
Solid logical and physical database design skills
- Experience in higher education is desired
